Why fan installs go wrong

Most fan problems trace back to the mount. A fan hung from a standard light box instead of a fan-rated brace will wobble, and it will keep getting worse. We check the box before anything goes up, and install the right support if it isn't there.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • My fan wobbles. Can it be fixed, or do I need a new one?

Usually fixed. Wobble typically comes from an unbalanced blade set or an unrated mounting box, both of which are correctable. We diagnose before recommending replacement.

  • Can you replace a light fixture with a ceiling fan?

Often, yes — but it depends on whether the existing box is fan-rated and whether the ceiling framing can support one. We'll assess it during the visit.

  • My bathroom fan is loud and doesn't clear steam. What's happening?

Typically a worn motor, a clogged vent run, or a fan that was undersized for the room. In Denver's dry air people often assume they don't need much ventilation, but a bathroom still needs a fan that actually moves air.
